Mighty Oak Moments...

Mighty Oak Moments…

My favorite moment this year was the science fair we had for the whole school to participate in. This was my favorite moment of the year because it gave me the opportunity to see our students really open up and get ultra creative with their skills. Students built so many different things, even robotics. They engineered so many cool projects.  Actually watching our students present in such a professional way was remarkable to see. That was my favorite moment of the school year.

My favorite memory from my time at Mighty Oak Academy while serving lunch to the kids would have to be my very first day! The kiddos were so sweet, polite, and welcoming. The staff was also welcoming as well. Mighty Oak is such a great school and I loved my time there.

When our littlest minds face a puddle, they play! They jump right in and splash around, making the puddle the epicenter for their learning-- no second thoughts. This year was jam packed full of puddle jumping moments that created present, engaged opportunities to jump into the process together.

There's no joy like first experiences! Listening to our tender kinders narrate their wowed predictions at the zoo is a memory I will cherish forever. "Is that a bear, a real bear?" It wasn't a movie, he was right there and real big!

We made our own songs and characters to fit the lessons we learned.

We got lost in characters who looked like us as our books took us on adventures. Then our firsties authored some of their very own stories, front covers and all!

One rainy day we tested the buoyancy of our  handmade origami boats in the collected rainwater at recess.

We learned letter sounds with the letters we drew in shaving cream on our desktops.

When we needed to cool down, we did so between giggles using teddy bear tummy breathing.

Learning through the eyes of littles is a great opportunity to see puddles as opportunities and learn to play again! Learning isn't just one thing. I hope you leap with as much excitement and curiosity as a kid lost in the joy of a puddle! Life can be messy, might as well splash around and learn in it!
