Mighty Oak Academy
Mighty Oak Academy is a K-8, community school in the Portland neighborhood. We seek to empower our students by providing them with knowledge and resources to help support them in every area of their lives. Our five pillars are academics, nutrition, physical education, social-emotional learning, and parent partnerships. By helping equip them in multiple areas of their lives, we hope to encourage them to be community minded problem-solvers and lifelong learners.
Porkland BBQ
Porkland BBQ is a catering business that creates jobs in the community as well as creates economic sustainability for Mighty Oak Academy. Porkland BBQ offers hickory-smoked meat and hand crafted sides.
Merriment Thrift
Merriment Thrift provides neighbors near and far with a dignifying shopping experience with affordable prices. Whether you have a kid looking for some new clothes for school, or it is time for a new pot and pan, stop by and check us out.
Love Grows Here Farm
Love Grows Here Farm is a USDA coded urban farm located on Love City’s campus. The greenhouse grows fresh veggies for three quarters of the year providing our neighbors with access to fresh healthy food in their own neighborhood. The farm also serves as a learning farm for students at Mighty Oak Academy to learn about plants and growing your own food.
Fish Frydays
Fish Frydays started in 2015 as a way to pay the bills for the gym so that kids could come in and play basketball after school. Through all the different stages of Love City’s journey, the Fish Fry has always been there, bringing people in our community together for a nice meal every Friday.
Volunteering Love City
At Love City, we seek to bring neighbors near and far together to help revitalize our neighborhood. Whether you are looking for a one time group project or a weekly role we have plenty of ways to get involved. Weekly individual volunteer opportunities include tutoring Mighty Oak Students, helping out at our Fish Fry, lawn care, and facility maintenance opportunities. If you have a passion or special talent that you would like to contribute to the mission of Love City please reach out, we would love to talk to you about what that could look like.
